  • ROCK CLIMBING
rock climbing in the blue mountainsThe Georgian Triangle has a number of challenging climbs and the scenery is awesome. The popular Metcalfe Rock is one of Ontario’s oldest climbing areas. Great top roping, traditional and sport climbing here. Access is easy and close to the road, following the Bruce Trail. Pinnacle Rock is directly across from Metcalfe Rock and receives the morning sun. An extra bonus are the crevices and caves that surround it. Old Baldy is another amazing limestone cliff located close to Kimberley. You need a permit from the Grey Sauble Conversation Authority (519-376-3076) but it’s worth it for the incredible view. Get in on the action and take a climbing lesson or a tour. To get started with lessons or tours, see the member’s section to contact the variety of member tour operators. Rock climbing can be very dangerous without the knowledge of proper safety techniques. We recommend that if you are a beginner to this sport that you take a course and/or receive personalized climbing instruction. Free Spirit Tours offers great instruction and comes highly recommended.

    CAVING
The Metcalfe Area is great for cave exploring. If you’re not looking for the caves you can easily pass right by them not even knowing they are there. The caving opportunities in the area include an incredible Ice Cave for moderate levels of cavers. The Tunnel Cave is great because it’s appropriate for individuals of all fitness levels. This cave experience is short, with 2 exit options. The feeling of exhilaration and accomplishment after this experience will leave you searching for more.

    zipline eco adventure tourZIPPING
The zipline is the grand finale to the 3 hour guided Eco Adventure Tour at Scenic Caves Nature Adventures which includes tree top canopy walk, two ziplines 300 ft and 1000 ft, Suspension Bridge, caves/crevasse tour. The new 1000 ft Zipline is a thrill ride for those who dare. Suited up in a seat harness and helmet, riders are clipped securely to a pulley that glides along the zip-line cable. The most challenging aspect is stepping off the Escarpment into mid-air, like a leap of faith. The ride is a 30-second plunge of increasing speed and possible spin high above the ground. Velocity reaches about 45 kph. A secondary pulley slows the rider before the end of the zipline. With a vertical drop of approximately 150 feet the zipline descends one-fifth the height of the Escarpment offering a bird’s eye panoramic view of Georgian Bay.  More Info
