Description: The exhibition, Oil and Water, juxtaposes small, experimental watercolours by Lise Meyers, with large scale representational oils by Ona Alisauskas. The impact is BANG!
Both artists use local landscapes for inspiration, but their creative paths soon diverge. Meyers deft and energetic watercolours interpret land and waterscapes in new ways using non-traditional materials: canvas, photopaper, even a linen napkin. Her experimental pieces are exciting and varied in scale and technique. Lise has been painting for over 30 years and has exhibited successfully in many shows.
Alisauskas’ large scale, reality-based oil paintings are a vibrant counterpoint to Meyers’ playful watercolours and demonstrate that oil and water CAN and DO mix. Most canvases depict local scenes and events. Ona is a graduate of the Ontario College of Art and Design, an elected member of the Ontario Society of Artists and the Canadian Society of Painters in Watercolour.
Oil and Water continues at Meaford Hall from June 1 to July 28
